Two people. One Dudley bloodline. A story that was almost over — and then wasn't.
The Man Behind the Line
Donnis Adams is the original face of Texas Red Dudley Labradors and the heart of where this story begins. A proud, retired U.S. Navy veteran based in Center, Texas, Donnis devoted over 25 years to breeding and refining the red Dudley Labrador — a bloodline that became highly sought after across Texas and beyond.
His journey started with pointing Labs. Under his kennel, Labrador Point Kennels, Donnis raised dogs that pointed birds and guided hunts with them for years. When he got his first red Lab puppy and looked back through the genetics, he discovered his dog carried the eebb genotype — the true Dudley — and he began breeding intentionally for that distinctive rich red coat and exceptional temperament.
That lifetime of hands-on experience produced Labradors that are as capable in the field as they are gentle and loving at home. His commitment to honest temperament and the unmistakable red coat set the standard for everything this line represents. Donnis bred this AKC-registered line alongside his dear friend Brian Kalich for years before he passed in 2021 — a partnership rooted in a shared love of these dogs and the craft of doing it right.
As Donnis' own health and age made it harder to manage this wonderful lineage, he was actually preparing to hang up his hat. This breed, in his hands, was coming to an end. Then Randi stepped in — and what could have been a final chapter became a new beginning.

Belle
Directly from Randi:
"My name is Randi. My dad bred dogs my entire life — black, chocolate, and yellow Labs, and eventually this red Dudley line alongside his dear friend Donnis. When Dad passed away in 2021, I took in his beloved red Dudley Labrador, Belle. She had been his everything, and she became mine. Together we grieved and fought our way back out of the darkest stretch, side by side. She was my rock and I was hers.
Sadly, this past Halloween 2025, I held Belle in my arms as she took her last breath. I have no doubt she found her way straight to my dad — reunited and whole again.
Donnis had always told me to reach out if I ever wanted a dog.... and we wanted to have that connection to both Belle and my dad again. So, I reached out...Unfortunately, he was winding down from breeding, but he offered me one of his own sweet girls, Ginger. What neither of us knew was that before I brought her home, Ginger and Red had done what Labs do. With Ginger came nine full-bred red Dudley Labrador puppies. I felt my dad's presence in every single moment. What started as the deepest loss had somehow turned into the fullest joy — a way to feel connected to both of them, and to carry something forward that mattered so deeply to my dad.
Donnis remains a trusted mentor and friend, and together we're making sure this line carries on the way it was always meant to. Dad, I hope you're watching — and I hope you're proud."
"What was going to be the end has become such a beautiful beginning."
